📞 Reserva tu Taxi AhoraFew places in Los Angeles carry as much cultural soul as Mariachi Plaza — known to the community as Plaza del Mariachi — nestled in the heart of Boyle Heights. It's not just a plaza. It's a living tradition, a gathering point, and one of the most authentic Latino cultural landmarks in all of Southern California.
Since the 1950s, mariachi musicians have gathered at this corner of E. 1st Street and N. Boyle Avenue, dressed in their iconic charro suits, waiting to be hired for quinceañeras, weddings, birthdays, and celebrations across the Eastside.
The plaza received its iconic cantera stone kiosk in 1998 — hand-carved by master sculptor Juan Pablo Salas from Guadalajara, Jalisco, and assembled piece by piece right here in Boyle Heights. In 2009, the Metro Gold Line opened its Mariachi Plaza Station directly beneath it.
In 2022, a stretch of Bailey Street bordering the plaza was renamed Vicente Fernández Street in honor of Mexico's beloved ranchera legend "El Chente." A true East LA moment.

Parking around Mariachi Plaza is limited — especially on weekends and during events like the Sunday market or the Santa Cecilia celebration. The surrounding streets on E. 1st St and Boyle Ave fill up fast, and the area near the Metro station has restricted parking zones.
The smarter move: call Frontera Taxi. We drop you off right at the plaza entrance, and pick you up when you're ready to go home — no hunting for parking, no parking tickets, no stress.
If you're hiring a mariachi band at the plaza to bring to your event — whether it's a birthday, anniversary, quinceañera, or just a special moment at home — we can coordinate transportation for the musicians as well. Our minivan fits a full group of musicians with their instruments.
Call us at (323) 303-6864 and tell us what you need. We've been part of this community since 2009 and we love making these moments happen.
Go on a Sunday afternoon. The Community Market runs 3–9pm and the plaza is at its most vibrant. Live mariachi, food vendors, and families everywhere.
Bring cash. Many of the mariachi musicians and nearby vendors prefer cash for quick transactions. There's a nearby ATM but it's easier to come prepared.
Visit in November. The feast of Santa Cecilia (November 22) brings the biggest mariachi celebration of the year. Book your ride in advance — it gets busy.
Combine your visit. Mariachi Plaza is just minutes from El Mercadito (3425 E 1st St) and Downtown LA. Make a day of it — we can drive you to multiple stops on one trip.
